Updates and key information on the response to the COVID-19 Outbreak at Shelburne Residence
On Monday May 25, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDG Public Health) informed us that that our Shelburne Long-Term Care home has officially had its outbreak declared “over”.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our staff, families, local and provincial healthcare partners and the wider community for supporting us in our efforts to reduce the spread of this terrible virus.
In order to protect the health and safety of our residents, staff and their families, we will continue to enforce our outbreak response measures, in line with the directives and recommendations set out by the provincial government and local health authorities. A complete list of these measures can be found here.
This virus is new and unpredictable, and the vulnerable people we care for are particularly at risk. As has been indicated by medical officers across the province, there is potential for spikes to occur and new cases to emerge, and we must be diligent in following our precautions.
Going forward, we will also continue to maintain our communications channels with families, including routine phone calls, written correspondence and social media posts. Website updates will continue to be found at https://www.shelburneltc.ca/outbreak-status-updates/.
If families have any questions about the health of their loved one, or about our health and safety protocols, they are encouraged to reach out to us at 519-925-3476 and a member of our care team will be happy to assist them.
Together, we are making a difference in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
